Acupuncture is an ancient therapy which is increasingly used in the modern world. It can safely be used in combination with conventional treatments to aid the body’s own healing processes.
Many people are now turning to holistic therapies such as acupuncture to treat long-standing, chronic conditions or those for which conventional treatments have been little help.
Acupuncture forms part of a system of Chinese Medicine which is based on its own principles. These include the idea that diseases or ill health are caused by the lack of balance and harmony in the individual as a whole, including their body, mind and spirit. This system has stood the test of time and the scrutiny of the scientific establishment.
Acupuncture uses fine needles inserted into the body to stimulate and rebalance your own healing energy (known as Qi) and remove any blockages that are responsible for your sickness and/or low energy.
Ultra-fine, sterile, single-use needles are gently inserted into specific points on your body which lie along energy channels or meridians.
Treatment may also involve the use of a Chinese herb, Moxa. This is carefully used to warm and stimulate Qi at certain points on the body.
